Two incredible things happened recently: Ian started riding his bike without training wheels and we got a Kuerig. I was equally excited about both.
We decided to take Ian's training wheels off a few weeks ago and as he sped away with no help needed I realized I could of taken them off a year ago. He is still working on putting his foot down when he comes to a stop but since he is so short he is learning to grab onto fences and signs while we wait for the light to change to cross the street. I can no longer walk beside Ian as he bikes and therefore my jogger has been getting a lot of use. I wanted to start running again and this is the perfect excuse!
As far as the Kuerig goes...Tim and I decided it was time to simplify our mornings.
Oh, and we recently bought a new car!
Martin Rehearsal Dinner and Wedding
Back in April the last of our college friends tide the knot. It was a momentous occasion as we thought that Cody would NEVER get married. Cody asked me and some friends to cater the rehearsal dinner. We said yes not really thinking through the work and time involved. It took us awhile to come up with a theme, but once we did the planning came easy. We also tried to serve food that represented Cody and Liz. Cody is from Annapolis and Liz is from New Mexico but her Italian roots also have a lot of influence. Here are some pictures from the weekend. The rehearsal dinner was at a townhouse on Capitol Hill and the Wedding Reception was at Top of the Town in Virginia. Even though it was a rainy night it was a beautiful location that looked over the Potomac and down the National Mall.

Yards Park
On Friday nights in the summer you can find us at Yards Park. Located on the shores of the Anacostia River, Yards Park has some great views of 295, the Navy Yard, Nationals Stadium, and some muddy water. On Friday nights Yards Park transforms, every family from Capitol Hill migrates down to Yards, a band plays, food trucks park, the fountains spray, and it becomes a great place to hang out. We let the kids play int he fountains and then change them into their pajamas to listen to the band.
