I never really make New Year's resolutions, but for some reason I always make Summer Resolutions. I think I find it hard to get motivated about anything during the cold of winter. But summer, now that is a different story. Listed below are some of my summer resolutions:
- Read more, think more about what I read, process it, and write about it
- Finally find that art store downtown, go to it, buy a canvas, and paint
- Continue training for the Marine Corps Marathon even when I get sick of it
- Eat healthier: less soda and caffeine, more water
- Treat myself to something once a week, something that is not for the house, like dish detergent and fabric softener. (I know this really shouldn't be a summer resolution, but I am really bad at buying things for me. I am not talking anything big, just like a new shirt, a new kind of shampoo, or a different flavor coffee)
- Go see at least one show, play, or concert in DC and successfully convince Tim to go with me.
I think these shouldn't be too hard to keep, but when the hours start piling on top of the days, they are always the first to go. And, we'll see about the last one as well!?! Also, with Summer not officially starting until June 21st (Emily's birthday) I have a head start.
Also, check out the Michael Kahn gallery, I am really into boats right now and I love his photography.

I completely agree about making “New Years Resolutions” in the summer. I made mine last year on July 1st and I plan to the do the same thing this year. I love this quote by Nany Gibbs, “The time to turn over a new leaf is when the leaves are full”. Good luck with yours.
